A partnership of Sacramento region organizations presented the most recent plan on Thursday to drive and accelerate an inclusive economy in the six county region.

Our Path Forward: The Prosperity Strategy is a strategic framework and bridge to action for the six-county Sacramento Region that prioritizes our core economic initiatives and will result in a more prosperous, equitable and resilient region.

The plan is the result of two years of work by GSEC, Metro Chamber, SACOG and Valley Vision, and followed the release of the Brookings Institution report in 2018 which shared an economic picture of a region that was not growing, compared to other mid-markets, and presented many indicators that those most in need were falling behind.

The framework outlines six core strategies that will be the focus over the next five years:

  • Be the global leader for entrepreneurs, firms and workforce in Food, Agriculture and Health Innovation.
  • Be the global leader for entrepreneurs, firms and workforce in Life Sciences.
  • Be the global leader for entrepreneurs, firms and workforce in Future Mobility.
  • Target infrastructure investment to support economic clusters and market drivers.
  • Expand demand-driven, sector-based workforce development, aligned to key opportunity clusters and a more inclusive workforce, prepared for future work.
  • Create an environment to be the most business-friendly region in which to operate in the state of California.
