Daylight Saving Time ended yesterday which means our mornings got a little brighter but now the sun sets about 5:00 pm. That late afternoon darkness is a good indicator that winter is coming (even if it’s going to be 80 degrees today!). But before winter gets here, we’re going to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week! Next week, Nov 12-18, people around the world will be celebrating entrepreneurship. Be sure to plan to attend one or more of the events happening — from Startup Grind to StartupSac Happy Hour to the DiverseCity Summit to a whole week of activities at Sac State! We’ve rounded it all up for you below or check out the StartupSac calendar.

DON’T NEGLECT TO VOTE! I didn’t say “don’t forget” because there is no way you can forget with all the chatter going on. If you don’t vote, it’s because you NEGLECTED to vote. You’ve got all day Tuesday to take care of it so be a good citizen!

This Week’s Best Bets

For those of you who have trouble getting up early to make it to 1 Million Cups on Wednesday mornings, this would be a great week to try! Your body likely hasn’t fully adjusted to Standard time yet so it will be easier! Join us at Impact Venture Capital from 9-10 am and experience this weekly gathering of startup founders. RSVP

Wednesday evening, InnoGrove in Elk Grove is hosting Investment Essentials for Startup Founders. If you think you’re ready to take on investment funding, you won’t want to miss this free workshop taught by Witan Law. RSVP

Thursday evening, Founder Institute is hosting a free panel discussion, How to Launch a Startup in Sacramento. I’ll be one of the panelists so it would be great to see some of your friendly faces in the audience! It’s downtown at Weintraub Tobin. You’ll also learn more about Founder Institute’s accelerator program. RSVP

Plan Ahead

Nov 13 at The Urban Hive, Startup Grind will host Derek Anderson, the founder of Startup Grind and also the founder of Bevy. Get your tickets early and you’ll save some dough! Use code “digest” for $5 off! Get tickets

Nov 15 StartupSac Happy Hour is at Hot Italian in midtown with AMA (ask me anything) guest Janine Yancey, founder of Sacramento-born Emtrain! There will be free pizza and it’s rumored that there might be a free first round! RSVP

We’re building community! The StartupSac Community Facebook Group launched earlier this year and already has over 250 members. Now we need you! Request to join here.

There’s lots of great stuff going on in the tech startup community–check out the details in this week’s Startup Digest. If you’d like to receive the digest in your inbox every Monday morning, sign up for free here. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event we have not included, please submit it here for consideration.
