Not every founder is comfortable standing on stage in front of a crowd. The good news is that you do not have to.
If you’ve built a startup, developed a new product, or have an idea you’re ready to share, the Silent Pitch Competition at this year’s Sacramento Summer Startup Party offers a different way to get noticed.
StartupSac is proud to partner with The Urban Hive, Startup Grind Sacramento, and many other ecosystem organizations, to support this annual event. Instead of delivering a timed presentation, you’ll showcase your company through a professionally designed poster while attendees, investors, founders, and judges explore the room, ask questions, and vote for their favorites.
Whether you’re an early-stage founder, student entrepreneur, innovator, or small business owner, this is an opportunity to gain exposure, make valuable connections, and compete for valuable prize packages—all without ever stepping onto a stage.
What Is Silent Pitch?
Think of Silent Pitch like a science fair for startups.
Each selected startup receives an easel to display a poster explaining what they do, the problem they’re solving, and why it matters. Throughout the evening, attendees explore the room, ask questions, meet founders, and vote for their favorite startup, while a panel of judges evaluates every participant.
There are no microphones, no timed presentations, and no pressure to memorize a pitch. Instead, you’ll spend the evening having real conversations with people who are genuinely interested in what you’re building.
Why You Should Apply
Building a startup is about getting feedback, growing your network, and finding supporters who believe in your vision. Silent Pitch is designed to help you do exactly that.
As a participant, you will:
- Showcase your startup to 150–250+ founders, investors, engineers, and ecosystem leaders.
- Spend the evening having meaningful conversations instead of giving a rehearsed presentation.
- Receive access to the VIP Reception beginning at 4:30 PM.
- Compete for both the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice awards.
- Win prize packages that include cash and valuable startup resources.
If you’ve been looking for a low-pressure way to introduce your startup to Sacramento’s innovation community, this is it.

Your Poster Is Your Pitch
You do not need expensive booth displays or elaborate marketing materials.
Your poster should clearly communicate:
- The problem you’re solving
- Your solution
- Your company name
- Visuals that help explain your product
- A QR code to your website if applicable
The organizers recommend using a foam board poster between 24 x 36 inches and 36 x 48 inches, with 30 x 40 inches being the preferred size. Easels are provided, making setup simple and affordable.
Two Ways to Win
Every participating startup has two opportunities to be recognized.
The Judge’s Choice Award is selected by a panel of experienced judges who evaluate each startup’s idea, execution, and potential.
The People’s Choice Award is determined by attendees, giving founders the opportunity to build excitement around their company and encourage supporters to attend the event. Every registered attendee receives one vote.
Both awards include prize packages featuring cash and valuable startup resources.
Even if you don’t take home an award, the connections you make with investors, fellow founders, customers, and community members can be just as valuable.
Is Silent Pitch Right for You?
If you’re wondering whether your company is ready, the answer may be yes.
You don’t need to be an incorporated company, and there are no industry restrictions. Early-stage startups, side projects, student ventures, and innovative business ideas are all welcome. Organizers are looking to curate a diverse group of 10 to 20 startups representing a wide range of industries and ideas.
If you’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to introduce your startup to the community, this could be it.
Applications close on August 14, but don’t wait. Through Friday, July 31, StartupSac readers can save $10 off the $25 Silent Pitch Application ticket with promo code STARTUPSAC. Purchase your application ticket to get started.
