Last week I thought we’d seen some very dramatic changes in our world; this week, we’ve taken it to the nth power! If we’re good citizens, we’ve eliminated non-essential excursions and are hunkered down in our homes with limited exposure to others.

If you’re starting to feel isolated, and trust me, even some introverts are reaching their limits, the internet is coming to your rescue! Everyone and their mother has taken to the world wide web to virtually connect with their families and communities. There were no shortage of online startup-focused events for me to share with you this week!

Here’s a few of note.

HaneyBiz launched Power of With: Navigating crisis with advice from the HaneyBiz expert community, daily webinars last week. It continues this week, M-F at 2:00 pm. Monday’s topic is 8 Business Strategies for Navigating COVID-19. Register for this week’s 5-day series on Zoom.

The Carlsen Center at Sac State just launched a 5-part Entrepreneurship Tool Kit series that will meet virtually via Zoom every Wednesday night at  6:00 pm for the next five weeks. This week’s topic is Customer Segments, Customer Problems and the Executive Team. It’s recommended to attend the entire series but you can also pick and choose the topics that best align with where you are at in your business right now. It’s free to attend but register in advance here so you’ll have the Zoom login information.

1 Million Cups will continue to meet virtually until POTUS and/or our Governor lift the bans on in-person non-essential meetings. Last week’s test drive went really well and about 20 people attended. This week, there are two presenters, Humanly, an AI platform that qualifies job candidates (which just graduated from Y Combinator’s Winter Cohort) and a new comer, just launched Wisely Well-Being, a place to share knowledge, teach wisdom and find balance. It’s free to join the Zoom meetup but you’ll have to provide your own coffee for the time being! Event details here.

In other news, Hacker Lab has extended the application deadline for its Pathways To Opportunity Scholarship program to April 23. So all you procrastinators who are currently in 7th Heaven because Tax Day was moved to July 15 now have something else to celebrate! The program provides an 8-month scholarship to Hacker Lab’s coworking and makerspace and some other benefits too. Learn more about the program here.
