Most of us think of September as “Back to School” month even though most schools now start in August. In honor of students everywhere, below is information about upcoming programs for our next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs!

Code for Hood’s next Youth Hackathon is September 28-30 at the Oak Park Community Center. Youth ages 12-17 will learn coding, video game design, 3D design, engineering, art, website design, entrepreneurship and more. It’s just $25 for this 2.5 day mega-experience! Learn more/Get Tickets here.

Yellow Circle is bringing its cybersecurity camp for students ages 13-18 to Folsom on October 20-21.Sponsored by Intel, it will be at Folsom Lake College and it’s FREE! The goal of the camp is to increase interest in cybersecurity careers and increase the diversity in the cybersecurity workforce. There are a limited number of tickets available so if you want your teen to attend, snag a ticket now.

Many programs for grownups also welcome older kids. Homeschoolers are invited to drop in to weekly 1 Million Cups events on Wednesday mornings from 9-10 a.m. to introduce budding entrepreneurs to the startup world. It’s free to attend and coffee is provided (bring along an age-appropriate beverage for your child). Kids who attend should be skilled at sitting through a one hour meeting without a lot of supervision. Learn more.

Rich Foreman, Chapter Director of Startup Grind Sacramento, also welcomes children and teens at his events. If you purchase a ticket for yourself, I can score a free ticket for your kid — just let me know. Parental Caution — sometimes the guests use salty language and this event doesn’t end until 8:30 p.m. Learn More.
