Capital Creative Showcase Returns May 9 with 60+ Indie Games and Local Talent
Sacramento’s indie game and creative community comes together on May 9 as the Capital Creative Showcase (CSS) returns for a full day of playable games, discovery, and connection—offering a unique opportunity for founders and builders to learn from Sacramento’s creative community.
Hosted by the Sacramento Developer Collective, this annual event highlights the region’s growing game development ecosystem while creating space for creators and the broader community to connect.
A Front-Row Seat to Sacramento’s Creative Economy
The Capital Creative Showcase isn’t just about playing games—it’s about seeing innovation in action.
For entrepreneurs, founders, and builders, it’s a chance to observe how creators:
- Bring ideas to life with limited resources
- Test and iterate in real time with users
- Build community around their products
- Turn creative passion into viable projects
Game development sits at the intersection of technology, storytelling, design, and user experience—making this event especially relevant for anyone building products, not just games.
What to Expect
Attendees can explore more than 60 indie games across a wide range of genres—many of them unreleased or not yet widely available.
The experience includes:
- Hands-on gameplay with new and experimental titles
- Direct conversations with developers
- A regional student showcase featuring emerging creators
- A multidisciplinary mix of game design, art, animation, and music
Featured games range from cozy exploration experiences like Snap Quest to surreal roguelikes like Fugue Shot, along with action-driven and experimental titles such as Immortal’s Way and Future Vibe Check.
Meet the Builders Behind the Games
One of the most valuable aspects of the showcase is access to the people behind the work.
Developers are on-site throughout the event, making it easy to ask questions, learn about their process, and understand how ideas evolve from concept to playable product. For founders and aspiring builders, it’s a rare opportunity to see how others approach product development, user engagement, and creative problem-solving.
New This Year: Steam Event Integration
This year, the Capital Creative Showcase expands beyond the venue with a concurrent Steam event launching May 8.
Participating games will be featured online while being played in person, giving developers exposure to both a local audience and a global one at the same time. It’s a strong example of how creators are leveraging hybrid experiences to scale visibility and reach.

This event is a strong fit for:
