One of the gaps in the Sacramento startup community has been the lack of pre-seed funding and an accelerator. Now, Mark Haney, Monique Brown, and Rick Spencer are making big strides in addressing that need with the launch of Growth Factory and the Growth Factory Ventures.
Growth Factory Ventures is an early stage venture fund to invest into founders with world class potential who are leading high growth startups from the Greater Sacramento region. The Growth Factory is a nonprofit accelerator to support the companies that the fund invests in with capacity building programs, and a community of partners, mentors, customers, advocates, and other founders.
Applications are now open for the Fall Cohort of the Growth Factory Accelerator.
Founders can apply to be accepted into a small cohort that receives 12 months of structured support. Each startup begins by creating a customized action plan and is paired with a lead mentor who will serve as an accountability and thought partner throughout the program. Workshops, founder forums, and office hours accelerate learning, connect founders with experts and resources, and provide community. Founders also participate in curated local pilot projects to support in testing their hypothesis, developing case studies, and building relationships with potential customers.
The Growth Factory is a proud member of the Global Accelerator Network (GAN), an organization originally founded by Techstars in 2010, that now supports 120 accelerators around the world. Through this network, founders get access to resources such as $1M in perks, founder wellness support, industry specific mentors, and global hot desk spaces for teams to drop in and work while travelling.
Application criteria include:
- Company presence in Greater Sacramento / Northern California
- Venture backable (business model and/or technology that have the potential to generate significantly outsized returns)
- Committed founding team with drive & ability to execute
