Folsom

1 Million Cups Heads to Folsom this Wednesday

There’s a new coworking space to check out in Midtown. CoWo Campus at 1507 21st Street had its soft opening last week. This space is a little different from other coworking spaces in the region — it’s free to use during the workday. No outside food or beverages are allowed but you can purchase them there. It’s a pretty cool place; you should stop by and check it out.

Did you catch the news last week about the Aggie Square?  UC Davis and the City of Sacramento held a press conference last Monday to announce the UC Davis Health Campus in the Oak Park area as the location for the first phase of the Aggie Square innovation hub. You can learn more about it here.

If you missed my announcement about it last week, you can still apply for Epic Office Hours for Startups at the Impact Global Venture Summit on May 8. They will match you up for a 12-minute private mentoring session during the Summit. Apply here.

This Week’s Best Bets

1 Million Cups is taking a road trip to Folsom on Wednesday morning. For those of you who live there, you’re in for a treat! No Hwy 50 morning commute! SAFE Credit Union is hosting the event and our featured presenter is ProtXX, the winner of last month’s Kings Capitalize contest! Details here

Wednesday evening is loaded with events this week, but for startup founders, I’d recommend InnoGrove’s free workshop, Perfecting Your Startup Pitch, from 6:15-8:00 pm in Elk Grove. Presenter Ash Seddeek has coached Cisco startup companies in how to pitch and we’re fortunate to have him teach in Elk Grove! Details here.

Thursday evening, CleanStart is having it’s monthly Cleantech meetup. More than just an excuse for clean-techies to hang out together, these events feature short engaging presentations on clean technology. This month’s topic is mobility and the free event is being held at the California Fuel Cell Partnership in West Sac. Details here.

Plan Ahead

Next week, April 30 – May 4, is Small Business Week and the Small Business Festival. There are events planned that will be helpful for both small businesses and startups. I’ve added the events that I think would be of most interest to startups but click through on the links above for a full listing. Many of the events are free.

Early Bird pricing for the May 8 Impact Global Venture Summit has been extended! PLUS you can still get 75% off the admission price of $100 with code “startupdigest.” That’s just $25! Delay no further — this will be the biggest event for startups in our region this year! Get your ticket here.

There’s lots of great stuff going on in the tech startup community–check out the details in this week’s Startup Digest. If you’d like to receive the digest in your inbox every Monday morning, sign up for free here. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event we have not included, please submit it here for consideration. And for even more startup information, happenings and resources, visit the StartupSac Website.  Note: We include a lot of tech events that aren’t necessarily startup-focused on the event calendar on the StartupSac website. Check it out here.
