This month we are featuring Rebecca Nguyen, founder of ValleyMatch. Rebecca built her company while balancing new parenthood and leaned into Sacramento’s startup community to grow. From pitching at 1 Million Cups while seven months pregnant to participating in the FourthWave accelerator, she kept pushing forward.
ValleyMatch was created to bring intention back to dating. Powered by AI and supported by human matchmaking, the company stood apart from swipe based platforms. ValleyMatch gained traction through pitch competitions and programs right here in the Sacramento region. After winning the 2024 Pitch Elk Grove competition and securing a 30K grant, ValleyMatch was acquired in 2025 by DateSpot.
Her journey shows what is possible when you bring your idea into community spaces, take big swings, and plug into the resources around you.
