Summer may be officially starting on Saturday, but founders aren’t taking a break! I’m amazed at how many opportunities there are to gain traction for your business happening right now. Usually, we have a lull about this time of year.
For starters, UC Davis Venture Catalyst is collaborating with the Bay Area Node for the NSF I-Corps program to host their Immersive Short Course training. Applications are open through July 3 and the program takes place online July 20, 22, and 27. The training is focused on helping early-stage teams who have a fundamental technology, engineering, or business model innovation learn how to search for a scalable business model through the Customer Discovery process. In addition to benefiting from the initial Customer Discovery process, applicable teams that complete the Immersive Short Course with instructor endorsement may qualify for the National Innovation Corps program, which includes a $30k or $50k grant for customer discovery and supplemental training. As I mentioned last week, FourthWave, an accelerator program for women-led tech startups, is now accepting applications (deadline 6/30) for their next cohort which starts in July. If you’re interested in learning more, Cheryl Beninga with FourthWave will be sharing information about the program at StartupSac Happy Hour on June 16. If you can’t wait until June 16 to learn more, hop onto the FourthWave website here.
