To the Greater Sacramento Community,
We at StartupSac are deeply troubled by the racial inequities rampant in our society. We condemn the killings of so many who are victims of racist violence, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Stephon Clark and so many more.
Racism is wrong, but it is very much alive. We condemn racism and racist acts. Though our understanding is limited we will learn, listen, and grow. We will do our best to speak with empathy, wisdom, and love. We will strive to be a positive force that stands up to racism within our sphere of influence in our community. We will actively fight racism. As a society, we must do better, and StartupSac has a role in that.
As StartupSac navigates these challenging times, we’re examining our mission and the fundamental operating principles that have guided us in the short three years that we’ve existed as an organization. We’re actively seeking new partners who, through their existing relationships, can help guide those in underserved and underrepresented communities to the resources StartupSac makes available to anyone with an interest in entrepreneurship. We also welcome advice on how we can modify or add to our current programs to better serve the needs of the broader entrepreneurial community.
Look for an update from us in the next few weeks on the actions we are taking to provide opportunities and support for black and brown innovators in the Greater Sacramento region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
In peace,
Jeff Bennett, President and CEO
