StartupSac Happy Hour

StartupSac Happy Hour returns on Thursday, March 1 with another guest entrepreneur ready to answer your startup, innovation, and entrepreneurial questions. Our guest entrepreneur this month will be Venita Sivamani, Co-Founder and CEO at Dermveda, an integrative skin health education and resource company.

Venita co-founded her startup with a team of dermatologists. The idea grew out of two pain points. First, a growing trend in complementary and alternative medicine with people wanting to work more on the preventative side along with physicians’ lack of education and training on complementary and alternative options. Second, the fact that skin is the number one driver of visits to the doctor creating a huge gap in the number of people wanting to see a dermatologist and the number of dermatologists available. With her background in education, Venita saw a need to create a platform around education in dermatological conditions.

So, start prepping your questions now and make sure you join us for an engaging evening where you can learn and get direct insight and feedback as well as enjoy the supportive, collaborative Sacramento startup community.

If you’d like to get a bit more background on Venita and her startup Dermveda, I interviewed her for a podcast episode where she talked about the origins of Dermveda, her focus on gathering the right team and advisors, market validation for her idea as well as challenges and lessons-learned as a non-technical founder. Check out the podcast interview with Venita.

Venita also took part in a panel discussion on diversity and inclusion at UC Davis. That panel discussion is also available as a podcast.
