Holy to the Moly! This week is JAM-PACKED with cool stuff to do! I’ll be at the Startup Grind Global Conference in Redwood City for a couple of days, but I’ll be back in time to make Beer & Geeks on Thursday at Blackbird. Rumor has it that thanks to the sponsorship of SkySlope, the first 25 people to arrive will score a free drink! And they’re hiring! D.J. Stephan, COO, will be on hand to personally chat with you about career opportunities at SkySlope.

Paperwork — Necessary Evil
This is a good week to get schooled on some of the less-glamorous aspects of launching a startup. UC Davis Venture Catalyst kicks off a 4-part SBIR Grant Workshop (funding for research for small business) today. There’s a workshop on Patent and Trademarks taught by the U.S.Patent Office on Wednesday, and on Thursday there’s a workshop on Startup Law at Hacker Lab.

Good News for Procrastinators
The application deadline for Hacker Lab’s Startup Hustle has been extended to March 17 and the start date of the accelerator program pushed out to March 24.

TechEdge Lives on
The Sacramento Business Journal is now the host of the annual TechEdge Luncheon. This event, which celebrates our region’s tech successes, was hosted by SARTA for 12 years! I’m thrilled that the tradition continues! This year’s keynote is Bill Reichert, managing director of Garage Technology Ventures. Get your tickets for March 2 before they sell out!

There’s lots more great stuff going on in the tech startup community. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event I have not included, please submit it here for consideration.
