Did you spend some time this weekend thinking about what you want to achieve or experience in 2017? Let me throw a few suggestions out there for standout experiences that will positively impact your startup journey.

January: CES 2017 is happening Jan 3-8th in Las Vegas. This is their 50th anniversary! A ticket will run you at least $1400 but for the first time ever, much of the conference will be live streamed FOR FREE!  Here’s the press release on how to follow along if you aren’t attending and here’s the link to the live stream information. I’ve added a few of my favorites to the event listing below.

January: The UC Davis Big Bang! Competition is now open to the general public…and it’s FREE! The top prize for the competition is $10,000. The competition links prospective entrepreneurs with researchers, educators and business experts who provide the skills, knowledge and insight to help bring startup ideas to fruition. The deadline for submission of executive summaries is Jan. 23 and final pitches are on May 25.

February: Startup Grind Global Conference is happening Feb 21-22 in Redwood City. This will be my third year attending and I highly recommend you consider attending too. The speakers are amazing–you’ll learn a lot! You’ll meet super cool startup people as well as an investor or two.

April: The Launch Festival is happening April 3-7 in San Francisco (the main event is April 6-7). THE MUST ATTEND EVENT FOR STARTUPS! Jason Calacanis is offering FREE attendance to the first 10,000 founders who register. There are still 5000 free passes remaining — visit launchfestival.com/tickets and select Founder Pass to get yours. This is my third year attending.

There’s lots of great stuff going on in the tech startup community–check out the details in this week’s Startup Digest. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event we have not included, please submit it here for consideration. END NOTE

Good news! We have tons of events! When this digest started in 2013, I had to scramble to find events. For 2017, we’re only going to include events in the Digest that are happening in the next two weeks except for select larger events that require more planning. However, you can view a larger list of events on our calendar here. Please submit your events here for addition to the calendar.
