Is Sacramento a center of innovation? I say yes — a growing center but a center nonetheless! Tomorrow, we celebrate successful innovations at the 2nd Annual Sacramento Innovation Awards luncheon (get your tickets! $25 off with code “startupsac”) and next week, during Global Entrepreneurship week, Innovate Sac will launch the Sacramento Urban Technology Lab, an initiative of The City of Sacramento to turn our region into a “living laboratory” of innovation! Innovate Sac is a free event, happening at the Sacramento State Harper Alumni Center. You should go to both of these events!
Speaking of Global Entrepreneurship Week, next week brings a cornucopia overflowing with entrepreneurship-focused events! You can see the full round up on StartupSac’s GEW 2017 calendar. With this much happening in our region, we truly have a reason to be thankful!
This Week’s Best Bets
It’s a “three-fer” at Impact Venture Capital on Wednesday morning! 1 Million Cups, featuring new Sacramento Shark Tank legend, HoopMaps, starts at 9 am, following by an interview with Heejin Chung, head of Venture Investing at SK Hynix at 10 am. You can also schedule Small Business Development office hours with Kyle from the SBDC between 10-12:30.
Wednesday night, there is a free UC Davis Big Bang! workshop in Davis — Making the Leap: Moving from Idea to Business. You don’t need to be competing in the Big Bang! to attend the workshop.
Friday night, find out more about the 2018 Cohort for the Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy. Their free mixer in Davis will feature a fireside chat with SEA Founder, Jim Corbett and you can find out more about applying to the program. Applications are due December 15. More Info/Apply
