UC Davis is the recipient of Federal Work Study Experiment funding. This funding, limited to the academic year 20 21–22, provides students the opportunity to work at relevant off campus positions and allows UC Davis to partner with startups and small businesses to help develop the workforce of the future.
Federal work-study monies are offered to students as part of their financial aid package. Under this experimental program, students will be able to work for startup entities and small businesses, learning relevant and applicable skills as a complement to their academic studies. In this scenario, employers are reimbursed 75% of the hourly wage student employees earn. Employers commit to hiring students at $15.00 per hour, for 12-15 hours per week while providing the requisite training and supervision entry level employees or interns would receive. Work-Study Process:
- Contact the Work-Study manager at workstudy@ucdavis.edu to obtain an application and return with all required documentation.
- Once the application has been approved, the Work-Study manager will submit the employer application to the campus for vendor approval.
- Once vendor request has been approved, the Work-Study manager will contact the employer to sign the Work-Study contract and provide necessary documents needed for requesting Work-Study on behalf of students.
- Employer will submit reimbursement invoices to the Work-Study manager at workstudy@ucdavis.edu.
