Welcome to the Sacramento Startup Digest!
Last week’s Sacramento Kings and Velocity VC Capitalize semi-finals were intense! 32 startups competed and four emerged as finalists — Barobo, California Safe Soil, Quicklegal and ViVita Technologies. You can review all the startups who pitched here as well as find out more information about the Kings’ April 5 Tech Night Game where the fans will vote via Twitter to determine the winning Startup. And if you want to attend the game, you can purchase your ticket here.
We’re a little short on events this week so I’m going to devote this edition to our future technologists and startup founders — KIDS!
Arduino and PodPi Maker Day April 2 at Hacker Lab
This Saturday, Stephane Come and his PodPi crew, will be at Hacker Lab to celebrate the release of his interactive PodPi cartoon series, a great tool for children (8-15) who are curious about learning Arduino & JavaScript. PodPi offers an Arduino kit for kids to use for hands-on learning along with the comic book. They’ve offered Startup Digest readers $5 off the Arduino kit if you use discount code “startup” — you can buy the kit here (and they’re kid tested and approved!).
Hackathon for 12-17 Year Olds April 29-May 1 at Sierra College
Operation Innovate in partnership with Sierra College and the City Of Rocklin is hosting a STEAM related youth hackathon. 2.5 days of educational fun! Participants will get STEAMED and learn: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, Entrepreneurship and Design! Cost is $50.
And you might want to check out the Get STEAMED program for kids happening every Saturday in April at Hacker lab Sierra College.
