Did you know that it’s California’s Women and Girls in STEM Week? There are a number of ways to show your support this week — participate in Bizwomen Mentoring Monday today (it starts a 9 am so you need to hustle!), attend Women Who Code’s Learn Javascript class on Tuesday, attend Women in Tech’s Careers in UX/UI panel at InnoGrove on Wednesday, and/or attend the STEM Select Committee Hearings on Women and Girls in STEM on Thursday. It’s also a great excuse to sign up for Million Women Mentors California — both men and women in STEM careers are needed to help mentor young women and girls.
This Saturday, it’s time for the 3rd Annual Indie Arcade Gaming Expo in West Sacramento! This home-grown game developer fest is guaranteed to light your geek and nerd fires! Organized by Sacramento’s IGDA chapter, this event is for both people who develop video games and those who like to play them! And why not make it a family outing? Kids 12 and under get in free!
This week also wraps up the Sacramento Kings and Velocity VC Capitalize competition. The final four — Barobo, California Safe Soil, Quicklegal and Vivita Technologies — are competing for votes on Twitter between now and the 3rd quarter of tomorrow’s Tech Night Game (Kings vs Trail Blazers). You can vote once a day between now and April 5. To learn more about how to vote and to view each Startup’s 30-second video, visit the Capitalize website.
