Startup Weekends have been a core component of our region’s ecosystem since the very first one at Hacker Lab in 2013. In some years, like 2015 and 2016, organizers even held two events each year. But last year, the region didn’t have a Startup Weekend. So we’re excited that a lot of hard-working organizers are bringing, not just one, but TWO Startup Weekend events to the region in February.
For those who may not be familiar, Startup Weekend is a 54 hour event where participants come with a new idea and pitch it. Teams form around the top-voted ideas and then work on developing the that idea over the course of the weekend and then present to a panel of judges. The winners receive prizes and everyone receives valuable new skills, what it’s like to work in a startup, and insights into building a business around an idea.
February 9-11 is Global Startup Weekend Women in Sacramento. This will be one of 30+ Women’s Editions happening around the globe on the same weekend. Both men and women are invited to participate throughout the weekend but only women can pitch the idea on Friday night.
February 23-25 is Startup Weekend Rocklin at Hacker Lab, powered by Sierra College. There are no limitations on who can pitch an idea. This will be the first Startup Weekend EVER in Placer County!
For either of these events, use promo code “digest” for 35% off general admission; Students, your price is already deeply discounted to just $29.
