Calling all Urban Tech Startups! The cities of Sacramento and West Sacramento, along with other government partners, want you to know about the Startup in Residence (STIR) program. STIR connects startups with government agencies to help startups secure contracts in the public sector.
The 16 week remote program connects startups with government agencies to co-develop technology solutions for government challenges. The program is looking for startups to apply to the 80+ challenges across areas such as mobility, civic engagement, IoT, and more.
Sacramento’s Challenges
The City of Sacramento has identified five challenges that they’re interested in exploring through a demonstration partnership with selected startups:
- Pedestrian Volume Data Collection: How might we automate the collection of pedestrian data to inform better decision-making regarding the placement of crosswalks and other pedestrian safety features?
- Erratic Driving Reduction Strategies: How might we enforce or incentivize safer driving in the absence of law enforcement and traffic calming facilities?
- Multimodal Travel Pattern and Parking Data Aggregation: How might we collect and analyze data to understand travel patterns across different modes of transit and use of public parking spaces?
- Behavioral Insights for Shared Transit Modes: How might we apply behavioral science research to reduce traffic congestion and expand the use of shared trips?
- Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Data Aggregation and Analytics: How might we capture EV charging data and disseminate findings in a comprehensive form to residents?
