Growing the Sacramento startup and innovation ecosystem isn’t just about supporting current startup founders and connecting them with the resources they need. It’s also about cultivating the next generation of innovators as well as making Sacramento an exciting cultural hub where talented, innovative people can thrive and be inspired, and one Sacramento non-profit is organizing an event that covers both.
Square Root Academy is curating a 3-day experience at the intersection of Art & Technology to bring together community in the heart of Oak Park. Over the 3 days, artists and makers alike will be transforming Brickhouse Art Gallery into a home for creative place-making and innovation while engaging the entire community. This fusion of tech & art will showcase the vibrant culture that exists throughout Sacramento, designed for the people by the people.
5000 Watts is a collaborative effort between some of the best and brightest local talent Sacramento and the surrounding region has to offer. Our dynamic (tentative) list of partners include the following participants with more to come:
- Light 23
- Obra Sacramento
- Maker HQ
- Rocket Department
- Leddy Wear
- Dynasty Video
5000 Watts brings together local artists, food and drink vendors, tech talent, and community advocates to bring STEAM to the community in an engaging way. Through this immersion, Square Root Academy hopes to showcase the “A” in STEAM right in the community. The entire event will be live streamed via various social media outlets to include those that are not able to attend in person to ensure a truly inclusive experience. 5000 Watts will be interactive through not only our partner’s engagements, but also through the 5000 Watts app available in the app store for Android and IOS. Be sure to download it to check out the hidden augmented reality gems hidden throughout Brickhouse Art Gallery.
