It’s Spring and that means Fairs, even if they are still virtual! The UC Davis Startup Career Fair is coming up on May 7! UC Davis is inviting startups with 3-100 employees that have gone through one funding round to meet students at the UC Davis Virtual Startup Career Fair. The UC Davis Virtual Startup Career is a great opportunity to share your startup’s story and meet with diverse undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students from a wide-range of academic areas. Spring also means gardening. Local businesses can apply now through April 22 to participate in the City of Sacramento’s “Economic Gardening 2.0” program, which offers companies up to $50,000 in matching funds for future growth. Learn more.

Today is the last day to apply to the 2021 Kings Capitalize Competition. In its 6th year, this crowdsourced startup competition will offer local entrepreneurs a chance to gain publicity, receive mentorship and secure funding for their business. The Grand prize is $10,000! Judges will select eight companies as semifinalists to advance to Pitch Day where a panel of entrepreneurs, executives and investors will evaluate their pitches and choose four companies to move on to the Finals. Fan votes will help decide who will receive the grand prize of $10,000. The winner will be crowned on May 9 while the Kings take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
