Unlocking Potential: Sacramento’s Pitch Competition for Social Entrepreneurs

Are you an entrepreneur with a vision to solve pressing social issues through innovation? If yes, then the upcoming Sacramento Social Entrepreneurship Summit’s Pitch Competition is the perfect stage for you. Hosted by the Strategy & Entrepreneurship Department at Sacramento State University’s College of Business, this event is tailored to provide a platform for social entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas. Scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM, this event is going to be an insightful experience. The program is funded by the City of Sacramento Office of Innovation and Economic Development’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Event Grant.

Why Participate?

Every entrepreneur knows that the journey from idea to execution is challenging yet rewarding. Pitch competitions, like this one, are not just about the prizes; they are crucial for gaining visibility, receiving valuable feedback, and connecting with potential investors and partners. The ability to articulate your business vision effectively and concisely is paramount. This competition offers you seven minutes to pitch your idea, followed by a five-minute Q&A session with the judges, testing your ability to highlight your company’s value proposition under pressure.

Competition Details and Submission Process

Interested participants are required to apply through the Pitch Competition Online Form, part of the Event Registration and Pitch Competition Submission process, by midnight on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Selected applicants will be notified by Friday, May 3rd and will present their pitches on Tuesday, May 7th.

Each pitch should include a 7-slide deck detailing the problem or opportunity your venture addresses, the target beneficiaries, a description of your product or service, its social impact, competitive advantages, and market relevance—particularly for the Sacramento region. Please note, your slides must be in PDF format, and direct links to cloud drives are not accepted.

Prizes and Recognition

Competitors vie for substantial prizes, with the first-place winner receiving $3,000, second place $2,000, and two third places at $1,000 each. Beyond monetary rewards, participants benefit from exposure and feedback from a panel of seasoned judges and an audience comprising industry leaders, fellow innovators, and potential investors.
