This week is light on founder-focused events, so we’ve included more developer-focused events than usual. Sacramento has a vibrant community of developers and every week, there are a number of events you can attend that can help you fine-tune your coding skills or even learn to code. While we don’t always include them in the weekly Startup Digest, they are always on StartupSac’s events calendar. So if you’re looking to be part of the developer community, be sure to check it out!
For you founders who’ve been looking for a technical co-founder, maybe you could learn some coding skills yourself! Many successful non-technical founders have learned just enough coding to develop their MVP to gain traction and interest. In fact, Y Combinator founder Sam Altman recommends non-tech founders learn to code in this blog post. If learning to code piques your interest, FreeCodeCamp is a great place to do that. They have meetups every week all over the region–I’ve listed a couple for this week but you can see them all on their Meetup group.
Plan Ahead
1 Million Cups, after a 2-week holiday hiatus, is back on January 9 at CoWo Campus from 9-10 am. Make it your New Year’s Resolution to become a part of the 1MC Community! It’s free to attend and we provide the coffee! RSVP
Startup Grind kicks off 2019 with a fireside chat with Jon Coss, founder and CEO of Pondera Solutions. In 2017, this Sacramento-based govtech company closed on an eight-figure equity deal and won the Sacramento Innovation Award in the software category.
