Power Inn Alliance Announces 2nd Annual Making Your Mark Contest for Aspiring Micro-Manufacturers
For the second year in a row, Power Inn Alliance, is launching its Making Your Mark contest for aspiring micro-manufacturers. The winner of the contest will receive a business launch prize package worth more than $50,000.
The goal of theMaking Your Mark contest is to identify a rising star in micro-manufacturing to support it in making the leap to commercialization. The Making Your Mark micro-manufacturing competition opened its application process at www.MakingYourMarkSac.com.
Applications open April 2, 1028 and are being accepted until 5:00 p.m. June 29, 2018 at the Power Inn Alliance office, 7801 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95826. Finalists will be announced on August 1st and will go through two months of solid coaching and development before the official winner is announced in October in accordance with National Manufacturing Day.
One major change to the contest in 2018 is that entrants will no longer be expected to submit a marketing video. Making Your Mark will serve as a jumping off point for aspiring micro-manufacturers to take their business to the next level. The winner will receive a start-up prize package worth more than $50,000.
Last year’s winner, Jim Heberling with Lifeline Lift Company, is well on his way to success and grateful
for the professional guidance, coaching and resources he received as a finalist and ultimately the winner
of the inaugural Making Your Mark in 2017. “I can’t say enough about the professional coaching I’ve
received from Bob Gregoire of CxORE to help me really evaluate my goals and lay the groundwork for
my business to be successful once I’m ready to take the manufacturing to the next level. I will forever be
grateful to the Power Inn Alliance for the amazing resources available to me both as a finalist and
winner of Making Your Mark,” added Heberling.
”Making Your Mark isn’t designed for hobbyists but is targeted to fledgling manufacturers who are in business but don’t yet have the resources or capital to expand to real commercialization,” explained Tracey Schaal, executive director of the Power Inn Alliance and founder of Making Your Mark.
“We are so proud to already house more than 62% of the City’s manufacturing jobs so it’s only natural to continue to foster a home for new micro-manufacturers and help foster manufacturing entrepreneurism here in Sacramento,” added Eric Guerra, City Councilman for District 6 (Power Inn district).
Judges for the Making Your Mark contest include local leaders such as:
- Theresa Milan – Dean, Strong Workforce Program, Los Rios Community College District
- Trish Kelly – Managing Director, Valley Vision
- Bob Gregoire – CEO, CxORE
- Dr. Seung Bach – Faculty Director, Center for Entrepreneurship, Sacramento State
