Last week turned out to be a busy one in Sacramento’s startup community. Here’s a quick recap of some of the highlights.
Kings Capitalize
The Sacramento Kings, in collaboration with Velocity Venture Capital, held the semifinals pitch contest of their Sacramento Kings & Velocity Venture Capital’s Capitalize competition on Tuesday. The day started out with 32 semifinalists and ended with 4 winning teams who will compete at a Kings game on April 5 to determine the winner.

Startup Hustle
Hacker Lab’s Startup Hustle began their second cohort with notifications going out to the selected teams on Tuesday and #StartupHustle916 beginning on Thursday.

Beer & Geeks
Dozens of Sacramento’s tech peeps showed up at the Red Rabbit in Midtown for the monthly installment of Beer & Geeks.
Innovate: A Creative Campus
The Sacramento Bee’s Bob Shallit published an article on Wednesday about a planned project just to the south of Sleep Train Arena in Natomas to:
Develop a “creative space” business park with Silicon Valley-type amenities aimed at drawing cutting-edge companies and entrepreneurial startups.
Sacramento’s ‘Massive’ Innovation Fund

UC Davis Partners with Coworking Spaces
Sacramento Business Journal’s Mark Anderson wrote about the University of California Davis launching partnerships with two local co-working spaces: Hacker Lab in Sacramento and Area 52 in Davis.

Build Sacramento
The Sacramento Regional Innovation & Growth Council aka @BuildSacramento announced itself in a tweet on Friday. They describe themselves as:
