If you’re at all interested in our grassroots startup ecosystem, there’s one place you have to be this week — hustle on over to Startup Expo 10 at Hacker Lab tonight! This periodic gathering has a college party vibe and you’re guaranteed to meet other founders and techies (looking for a CTO or cofounder?). Tonight, several real estate technology startups will be featured including Skyslope, HomeZada and Renter. The price of entry? B.O.B. — Bring others booze (or if you’re more genteel, “beverages”). Just bring your fav bottle or six-pack of a libation to share with someone new. If you don’t bring something to share, Bryan “Where’s your Booze?” Barton will hit you up at the door for $5 cash. You’ve been warned! :) Anyhoo — all the cool kids will be there.
Great news! Startup Hustle is now accepting applications for their 6-week entrepreneurial bootcamp. This program is perfect for very early stage startup teams. Applications are open through Sept 16th and the program kicks off Sept 29th. Want more details? Visit their landing page.
Because an open rate of just 25% is considered excellent for most email marketing campaigns, I’m going to tell you about 1 Million Cups again assuming that at least half of you haven’t heard the word yet. Here are 3 easy steps you can take to get involved in this awesome program for startup founders and the community that wants them to succeed. Got questions? Shoot me an email.
1) Watch this short video to find out why other startup communities around the nation LOVE 1 Million Cups.
2) Visit the 1 Million Cups Sacramento page and click “follow” to join the community. That’s the only way the local chapter will know to invite you to the FREE launch on September 21.
3) If you have a startup in the 1-3 years old range (give or take) apply to be a presenter. The organizer team will work with you to find a Wednesday morning session that’s convenient for you to present if your application is approved.
