After days of seemingly endless torrential rains Sacramento woke up on Wednesday morning to beautiful sunny skies and many from the startup community came downtown to the refurbished Impact Venture Capital offices in the Renaissance Tower for game day at 1 Million Cups Sacramento. The theme of the day, if you haven’t yet guessed it, was games and two founders of game startups presented.
tCubed
Christopher Sprague, founder of tCubed kicked things off with a presentation about his physical game. tCubed is tic-tac-toe on a cube. Players strategically force their opponents around the cube while trying to win three faces.
Many millennials started playing games on physical boards that were gradually converted into digital versions. As a result, they love their electronic and digital products but pine for good ol’ fashioned games that are interesting enough to compete for their attention against electronic alternatives. tCubed meets these needs by providing highly strategic gameplay on a stunningly beautiful physical object as well as in a mobile app.
Here’s Chris describing tCubed:

Since the release of tCubed V1.0 on October 27, 173 have been sold at $14.99 with most customers buying two or more, tCubed is being played in 16 states and one Canadian province, and is being distributed by one retailer with a second signing a letter of intent.
Asked how the Sacramento startup community can help him, here’s how Chris replied:

After a lot of really great feedback from the audience for Chris, it was the next presenter’s turn.

It was a great morning hearing about more cool startups happening right here in Sacramento and another great showing of the collaborative, helpful startup community we have going on here in Sacramento. I’ll be doing a couple of profile interviews with Chris and Gabe in the coming weeks so stay tuned for those.
