Twenty-one innovations and the organizations that created them have been named finalists in the third annual Sacramento Region Innovation Awards, presented by Stoel Rives LLP, Moss Adams LLP and the Sacramento Business Journal. Winners in eight categories will be revealed during an awards luncheon on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the Sacramento Hilton Arden West.
A special “Innovation of the Year” award for Wide Open Walls — a Sacramento-based arts and mural festival founded by David Sobon in 2015 — will spotlight innovation beyond business and technology. Past recipients recognized for having a broad and profound impact on the greater Sacramento innovation community include Golden 1 Center and the University of California, Davis.

The November 1 awards luncheon begins at 11:30 am with a networking period and Innovation Showcase featuring displays from the finalists, followed by lunch and a formal program from noon to 1:30 pm. The Selection Committee evaluated nearly 100 eligible* entries, which were judged on novelty, market need, economic or social impact, and disruption. Committee members are drawn from the area’s civic, business, academic and technology sectors.
The Sacramento Region Innovation Awards program was founded by Stoel Rives LLP and is facilitated by the firm’s attorneys and professional staff.
