Progressive Game Jam Season 11 is starting!
This season will be a 7-month long jam running monthly from September to March.
Pitch Day is on Saturday September 21st.
If you’ve never participated in Progressive Game Jam, it is a long-form game jam that lasts several months. Teams are formed around a game idea that is pitched on day one and you work with that team throughout the jam to make a game.
PGJ teams also get their 1st 6-ft table space at Capital Creative Showcase for free to show off the game they made.
**FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS**
**Q: Do I need to have prior experience in game development?**
**A:** Not at all! PGJ welcomes people of all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or completely new to game development, you’ll find a supportive environment to learn and grow.
**Q: What is the theme for PGJ?**
**A:** There’s no set theme! You can pitch any idea you have, so feel free to get creative and bring whatever project you’re passionate about.
**Q: How complex should my pitch be?**
**A:** Your pitch can be as in-depth or as simple as you want! We’ve seen everything from detailed PowerPoint presentations to quick descriptions of an idea someone had in their head. My advice: be clear, concise, and make sure to communicate what makes your game idea special.
**Q: Do I need to be on a team before the first day?**
**A:** No, teams are formed on the starting day, so don’t worry if you don’t have one in advance.
**Q: How much does it cost to enter?**
**A:** It’s completely free to participate!
**Q: What happens if I don’t have a pitch?**
**A:** No problem! You can always join a team that’s working on an idea you find exciting, even if you don’t have your own pitch.
**Q: Do I need to bring anything to the event?**
**A:** Just bring yourself and whatever tools you think you’ll need for development (laptop, software, etc.). We’ll provide the rest!
**Q: Can I pitch a game I’m already working on?**
**A:** Yes, but we do prefer new ideas. Ongoing projects can be more challenging to onboard, so fresh concepts often work better for collaboration.
