Gilded Rose Revisited

January 2, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Let’s take another crack at the [Gilded Rose](https://github.com/emilybache/GildedRose-Refactoring-Kata) refactoring kata. This time we’ll start by laying out some strategies for approaching the kata before dividing up into groups. We’ll have an optional mob at the big screen as well as smaller groups or solo teams as people see fit.

A refactoring kata is an exercise where we practice improving existing code. This one was created by Terry Hughes and popularized by Emily Bache. Originally written in C#, Gilded Rose has been ported to most major languages.

**Who Should Attend**
Anyone interested in practicing coding skills or supporting others to do the same.

**Timeline**
6:30 – Doors open. Free-form mingling.
**6:45** – Presentation starts. We’ll go over some strategies for approaching this kata then split up into groups to work on it.
8:10 – We’ll share our progress and do a quick retrospective.
8:30 – Meeting formally ends. People are welcome to stay and mingle or keep working on the kata. Usually some folks go out for food and drinks after.
