What is the Alchemist Microenterprise Academy?
The Alchemist Microenterprise Academy (AMA) is a 12-week business training course designed for aspiring food entrepreneurs in the greater Sacramento region. This program is particularly geared towards individuals from low-income backgrounds or under-resourced communities. AMA covers crucial topics such as business financing, permitting, marketing, and developing a comprehensive business plan. The program is structured to help participants navigate the complexities of starting and growing a food business. With a limited cohort of around 20 participants, the Fall 2024 session will primarily be held on Zoom, offering ample opportunities for engagement with a community of like-minded entrepreneurs, staff, and expert guest speakers.
Who Should Apply?
AMA is ideal for individuals passionate about starting a food business but who may lack the resources or knowledge to do so. The program targets those from low-income or under-resourced communities. AMA aims to provide them with the tools and support necessary to succeed. If you are eager to learn about business financing, marketing, and creating a robust business plan, AMA is the perfect opportunity for you. By participating, you also become eligible to apply for the Alchemist Kitchen Incubator Program (AKIP), which offers up to five years of one-on-one mentorship for qualifying food businesses.
How to Apply
Applying for the AMA program is straightforward but requires attendance at an information session. Prospective applicants can choose from two live-on-Zoom sessions on August 7, and August 14, all from 6-7 PM. Alternatively, an on-demand recorded session is available for those unable to attend live sessions.
