Electro Scan, a Sacramento-based tech startup, emerged victorious at the Startup World Cup Sacramento Regionals. The competition, featuring ten regional startups engaged in a fierce pitch battle, showcased Electro Scan’s cutting-edge technology in advanced probes for sewer and water defect detection. The standout among these was their SWORDFISH product, a machine-intelligent probe that skillfully identifies buried lead water service pipes, eliminating the need for excavation.

This triumph not only propels Electro Scan to the Global Grand Finale in San Francisco, where they will compete for a coveted $1 million investment prize but also underscores Sacramento’s burgeoning prominence in the tech industry. Electro Scan’s success positions them as a formidable global player in infrastructure technology, marking a significant milestone for both the company and the city’s growing tech ecosystem.

The finalists that also competed in the Sacramento Regionals included:

  • Datamede: Datamede modernizes charge capture for medical groups, delivering accurate billings and claims to mitigate revenue leakage. (Roseville)

  • EduRoute: EduRoute is the GPS for personalized academic journeys, connecting universities with students’ needs at scale and guiding them with AI precision, helping students find their ideal path and reducing dissatisfaction, delays, and wasted resources. Formerly SchedGo. (Davis)

  • Elven Technologies: Elven solves the electric vehicle battery fire problem, using a flameproof enclosure built with proprietary material technology. (Rancho Cordova)

  • HiDO Health: HiDO is a digital health company that uses AI to improve health outcomes and reduce costs. (Sacramento)

  • Inspirame: Inspirame helping to solve generational poverty by raising the education levels of everyone, especially for our Black & Latinx populations. (Sacramento)

  • Neural Lab: Neural Lab’s A.rTouch™ software solution turns existing computer devices into instant touchless interactive systems. (El Dorado Hills)

  • Soar Optics: Soar Optics is developing products to improve the speed and efficiency of microplastics detection and monitoring using optical sensors. (Elk Grove)

  • Vael: Vael helps small businesses who are dissatisfied with the performance of their digital ads, find new customers and gain access to privacy-compliant first-party data. (Sacramento)

  • Wind Harvest: Wind Harvest makes compact, H-type vertical axis wind turbines designed to harness power from turbulent wind layers, making them suitable for locations where traditional propeller-type turbines cannot be installed. (Davis)

Startup World Cup Grand Finale 2023

Electro Scan will represent the Sacramento region in the Startup World Cup Grand Finale set to take place in San Francisco from 11/29-12/1/23, and compete for a $1 million investment prize.
