In a field of over 50 startups, Electro Scan, a Sacramento based startup that develops advanced probes for sewer and water defect detection, won the Sacramento Regional Startup World Cup on November 9, 2023. Their pitch featured their innovative SWORDFISH product, a machine-intelligent probe that skillfully identifies buried lead water service pipes, eliminating the need for excavation.
Advancing to the Final
Their win in Sacramento made them eligible to compete in the Startup World Cup Semi-Finals in San Francisco where they went against 100 startups that advanced from their respective regions. Electro Scan continued to advance, making the finalist list of the top 10 startups in the global competition.

The Final Outcome
While Electro Scan didn’t win the Startup World Cup, by making the Finals they represented the Sacramento region well and they joined JAPA, the Sacramento Startup that made last year’s world cup.
The winner of the 2023 Startup World Cup $1 Million Investment Prize was Tokyo-based Aillis. They are developing an AI powered medical device for early and accurate influenza detection.
