On April 30, regional leaders convened for the Regional Futures Forum to hear a report from the Brookings Institute on a study they were commissioned to do by Valley Vision, the Greater Sacramento Economic Council, Sacramento Metro Chamber, Sacramento Region Business Association and the Sacramento Area Council of Governments.
The report, ‘Charting a course to the Sacramento region’s future economic prosperity,’ was released on April 30 and is available online on Brookings’ website, along with a full report available as a PDF download. A much shorter Executive Summary is also available as a PDF download.
There are several interesting insights and takeaways that are relevant to the Sacramento region’s innovation community and it’s well worth reading for all startup enablers and other organization involved in our startup and innovation community. But, at 58 pages long, the full report requires a bit of time commitment to read and digest.
To help get a sense of the findings and takeaways in the report I created this simple high level outline of the findings. See the image below or download a PDF version of this diagram.
The diagram synopsis is very high level and I’d encourage everyone to not rely on it alone but to at least read the Executive Summary, which at ten pages in length is much more digestible. Also, the Greater Sacramento Economic Council has an event scheduled on May 31, the Greater Sacramento Competitiveness Forum, which will likely address many of the findings in the report. It’s free to attend.
