Join Ade, a curious Full Stack Engineer, for a talk on multithreading in JavaScript. This session is designed to challenge the widespread notion that JavaScript is solely a single-threaded language and to illuminate its capabilities and the capabilities of its runtime environments.
In our first segment, we’ll tackle the myths surrounding JavaScript’s threading capabilities, offering clarity on how JavaScript runtimes manage concurrency. This leads us into a broader discussion on concurrency models, providing a contextualized understanding of multithreading and the specific problems it addresses (as well as other solutions to those same problems). We’ll then dive into a comparative analysis of JavaScript’s multithreading features and those in other programming languages, highlighting where JavaScript’s approach is similar to and differs from other languages. The goal of this talk is to foster a deeper appreciation of JavaScript and its runtime environments, showcasing their robustness and versatility in managing complex operations.
