Last night the Sacramento City Council unanimously approved Mayor Kevin Johnson’s proposed Innovation and Growth Fund Policy, Procedures and Guidelines and E 3.0 Business Climate Recommendations.

In a solid show of support and solidarity, many key players in the Sac startup community – representing coworking spaces, accelerators, funders, and founders  – attended to show their support of the initiative to grow innovation in Sacramento. Several of our local startup community leaders including Matt Phillips of MedStart, Jay Sales of VSP/The Shop, Jack Crawford of Velocity Venture Capital, and Brian Collins of Angel Hack, as well as a few startup founders, addressed the council and  put forth strong arguments in favor of Innovation fund.

The number of supporters in attendance was substantial and in the interest of time, the Mayor asked those in attendance who supported the expressed statements to stand to show their support. It was great to be a part of dozens from the Sacramento startup community standing together to show our support for innovation and entrepreneurship in Sacramento.
