The winning teams at Startup Weekend Sacramento: Elk Grove Edition

Happy Global Entrepreneurship Week!

This past weekend, eight teams competed for first place at Startup Weekend in Elk Grove at the new coworking space, InnoGrove. First place went to Invima, an app that provides instant video messaging on missed calls. Second place went to Renit — a platform to rent items you aren’t using to people who need them (like sporting equipment). Third place went to Play to Gather — a mobile platform for board games. The winning teams will be pitching at Startup Expo on Tuesday night at Hacker Lab and at Startup Grind at The Urban Hive on Wednesday. They’ll be exhibiting at the Startup Weekend table at Velocity’s Startup Fair on Thursday afternoon downtown at the Renaissance Bldg. I hope you come out to see the great work they did! All the teams now have a chance to compete in Global Startup Battle. Stay tuned for details on how to help them advance through online voting!

There is SO MUCH COOL STUFF going on this week! The Sacramento Startup Community knows how to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week! You’ll find me at all three events mentioned above PLUS I’ll be at InnoGrove in Elk Grove for their lunchtime open house on Wednesday (free pizza!), Beer & Geeks at KBAR on Thursday evening, and at the Region Rising conference all day Friday. I hope I see you while I’m out celebrating Entrepreneurship!
