A great initial entry point into a startup scene is through local tech-oriented groups like those organized on the Meetup.com website. The greater Sacramento region is home to dozens of active tech-focused groups on Meetup.com. But navigating through Meetup.com to find a group that you’re interested in can be cumbersome. So, I’ve created a page of local Meetup groups that Laura Good and I use to check for events to put on the event calendar.
For example, if you’re interested in Javascript check out the Sac JS Meetup group. Is Ruby your thing? There’s a Meetup group for that as well. Some groups are more active than others, so I’ve calculated an average rate of events per month for each group based on the number of total events it has held divided by the number of months since its formation (as of July 13, 2016). Use this to help get a feel for how active a group is. Here’s a sampling below of some of the more active groups (those with an average of one or more meetings/month).
