Last week was a whirlwind week for me -Top 10 Mistakes Startups Make workshop at InnoGrove, Health 2.0 Sacramento Human Centered Design workshop at Hacker Lab, Million Women Mentors California Launch in San Francisco at Paypal and then not a startup or tech thing, but I volunteered to train more than 300 nonprofits on using social media to share their mission on the Big Day of Giving on May 3. Whew! I needed to catch my breath after all of that!

Plan Ahead
While we have a lot going on in Sacramento’s startup community, it’s good to head to Silicon Valley from time-to-time to gain a larger perspective and to hear from a variety of successful entrepreneurs and investors. February and March feature two fantastic opportunities for this.

Startup Grind’s Global Conference is in Redwood City February 23-24. With 3,000 founders and investors, more than 40 keynote and fireside sessions, and over 50 exhibiting startups, this is Startup Grind’s largest event ever. You can get a full year’s worth of education in just 2 days! I’ll be there along with several others from our community. Let me know if you’re planning to go — we can meetup!

The LAUNCH Festival is in San Francisco on March 2-4.It’s pegged as the greatest startup conference in the world, with 15,000 attendees, four stages, and 250 speakers focused on helping founders build, scale, and fund the next generation of outstanding companies. And here’s the good news — founders attend this event for free! There is an impressive startup demo pit and there is still time to apply for space in the pit. I’ll be at this event too — let me know if you’re going.

This Week
There is no single big event happening this week — there is lots of variety for all interests. Check out the Sacramento Startup Events Calendar for events. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event I have not included, please submit it here for consideration.
