Summer is making her final stand this week (I hope) — we get to enjoy another continuous string of days with triple digit temperatures! It’s a great reason to stay inside, sipping a cool drink in front of the air conditioner in your underwear. And since it’s too hot to do much outside, I recommend you do some indoor surfing and check out the two startup accelerator programs that are starting this Fall.

I’ve been sharing information with you about Founder Institute for a few month now. Final applications are due September 17 and the program starts September 26. You can find out more about the program here.

Hacker Lab announced today that applications are now open for the Fall Cohort of Startup Hustle. The Kick Off informational meeting is on Wednesday, September 5 in midtown. There will be a month of free community events during September and the 5-week Bootcamp kicks off on October 12. Visit the Startup Hustle website for more information about the program.

This Week’s Best Bets

On Tuesday the Greater Sacramento Economic Council is hosting a free community event in Roseville, Innovation Ecosystem: Building Institutional Catalysts for Economic Growth. If you want to help guide what’s going on in our region to support innovation and entrepreneurship, you should be there!

Wednesday morning (at 9 a.m. before it’s too hot!) head to Impact Venture Capital for 1 Million Cups where two ag tech companies will present. Immediately following, there will be a one-on-one interview with the general partner of Yamaha Motor Ventures.

On Thursday evening, MedStart is hosting a Networking Happy Hour at Hacker Lab. Two health tech companies will present and there will be ample time to get to know others in the community as well.

Plan Ahead

On September 5, StartupSac is welcoming in Oktoberfest a little early with Happy Hour at Der Biergarten in Midtown. This is a free no host event.

Get your tickets NOW for Startup Grind’s September 12 Fireside Chat with John Stone, COO of Fantag & founder of PowerSchool and save some bucks! Prices go up soon — use promo code “digest” and save $5!

There’s lots of great stuff going on in the tech startup community–check out the details in this week’s Startup Digest. If you’d like to receive the digest in your inbox every Monday morning, sign up for free here. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event we have not included, please submit it here for consideration. And for even more startup information, happenings and resources, visit the StartupSac Website.  Note: We include a lot of tech events that aren’t necessarily startup-focused on the event calendar on the StartupSac website.
