For those of you interested in sustainability (and really, aren’t we all?), CleanStart is powering up again and is in the midst of a Crowdrise Fundraiser. You can help by throwing a few bucks their way to help support the advancement of clean tech companies in our region. And if you miss hanging out with the CleanStart posse, on October 12 there will be a Clean Tech edition of 1 Million Cups Sacramento. Mayor Kevin Johnson once declared Sacramento the Emerald City because of our passion for the green economy — let’s keep that legacy alive and help Restart CleanStart!

Speaking of 1 Million Cups, this Wednesday the gang is taking a road trip to Folsom. For those of you living in parts East, here’s your chance to find out what all the buzz is about without having to fight the morning commute traffic to downtown. The presenting companies are Tap2Teach (edtech) and Fresher USA (food justice).

If you’re interested in the Maker Movement, Hacker Lab and Sierra College are hosting a free event Wednesday in Loomis, Building a Community of Makers. Hacker Lab co-founder Eric Ullrich will share about his recent trip to the FabLabs Conference in Shenzhen, China, where he accepted the designation of FAB City on behalf of Sacramento. And Carol Pepper-Kittredge, Director of the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies at Sierra College, will share information about the California Community College Chancellor’s Office $17M initiative, Innovation Maker 3.
