Within the last generation, we have discovered the role that exponential growth plays in driving information technologies forward. Today we’re making rapid advances in computing technology, communication infrastructure, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, digital manufacturing, robotics and more. Tools that were previously only available to wealthy research labs are being democratized such that small teams the world over, can now accomplish what only governments and corporations could do just 15 years ago.

At the Innovate Sac event on November 15, guest speaker Aaron Frank will take a look at emerging technologies and the nature of rapidly developing technologies like smart cities, urban technology, and AI. He’ll explore case studies and examples as he leads the audience through an exploration of the innovation possibilities in our region.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 15, 2:00PM – 5:00PM

About The Sacramento Urban Technology Lab

The Sacramento Urban Technology Lab (SUTL) is the living embodiment of the “Triple Helix” model of economic
innovation, where government, academia and industry collaborate to transform Sacramento into that of a
“living laboratory” for entrepreneurs, advanced technology businesses, and academic institutions to test,
develop, and scale their ideas, products, and services. By actively suppoiiing technology development and
demonstration throughout different districts in Sacramento, SUTL will help align current City efforts and to grow
Sacramento’s existing base of high-tech workers, business incubators, and early-stage technology businesses
and encourage established technology firms and research partners to test hew technologies in a live city
environment.

SUTL aims to bring awareness to current and future city initiatives as well as develop programming to support the
growth of the following industry verticals in Sacramento:

  • Mobility (autonomous vehicles & related transportation technology)
  • Clean Technology and Sustainability
  • Health IT and Life Science
  • Agriculture and Food Technology
  • The Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity
  • Government and Civic Technology
  • Workforce Development
