Part 1 in a series of videos from CleanStart’s crowdfunding workshop.

Earlier this week, CleanStart, Sacramento’s clean tech incubator, held a workshop on crowdfunding. In this workshop, CleanStart explored both equity and rewards-based crowdfunding, with the goal to help founders determine if either crowdfunding option is the right choice. The workshop provided founders with expert advice on launching a successful crowdfunding campaign, complete with case studies of actual campaigns.

The event lineup included Manny Fernandez, cofounder and CEO of DreamFunded, on How to Raise Money with Equity Crowdfunding, Chris Russell of Stoel Rives LLP talking about the legal requirements of crowdfunding, and Michael Zeligs, founder of StartMotionMEDIA, who has helped entrepreneurs raise over $13 million through rewards-based crowdfunding campaigns.

In part 1 of this video series, Gary Simon, Chairman, CleanStart, kicked things of with opening remarks and provided some context for why crowdfunding has become a popular option for many tech startups.

Slide decks and other resources from the workshop are available on a CleanStart Crowdfunding Workshop resources page.
