February has kicked off on STEROIDS! This week is jam-packed with cool things to do! You won’t possibly be able to take it all in but I challenge you to get out and attend at least one activity this week!

If you’ve been reading the digest for a while now and aren’t yet part of a startup, consider participating in Techstars Global Startup Weekend Women Feb. 9-11 at the Capitol Events Center. It’s a great learning experience whether you have a new idea you want to pitch or if you just want to be a part of building someone else’s idea into a startup. Cold feet? Come to a free pitch workshop tonight at the new CoWo Campus in midtown where not only will I be sharing tips on pitching your idea at Startup Weekend, I’ll also be giving you the lowdown on how a Startup Weekend works. Dudes, this isn’t just for women — you can come be on a team, you just can’t pitch an idea. If you are male and have an idea to pitch, attend Startup Weekend Rocklin at Hacker Lab later this month (Feb 23-25). For either Startup Weekend, use code “digest” for 35% off!

Freebie of the Week! UCD’s Aggie Innovation and Startup Symposium is this Thursday from 8:30am to 6:00pm. This Symposium will assist those who wish to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset by connecting them with access to resources, mentors, business fundamentals and community stakeholders. The event is open to the public but geared toward undergraduate students. If you can’t attend the entire day, there is a Campus and Community Resource Reception from 4:45-6:00 pm. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain access to information, resources, and networking opportunities related to Innovation and Entrepreneurism!. Jeff and I will be there representing StartupSac. Hope to see you there!

Plan Ahead

CoWo Campus in midtown, a new coworking space with a twist, has its public Grand Opening a week from today from 10:00am-7:00pm. It’s an all day affair–you should drop in to check it out! The twist? Coworking is free and they sell food and beverages. But it’s not a coffee shop!

Next Monday is the Sacramento Business Journal’s annual Bizwomen Mentoring Monday. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with women mentors. There are over 40 to choose from! If you’re a Startup founder, I recommend meeting Drisha Leggitt, Tina Reynolds, Melissa Washington and Rachel Zillner.

There’s lots of great stuff going on in the tech startup community–check out the details in this week’s Startup Digest. If you’d like to receive the digest in your inbox every Monday morning, sign up for free here. If you’ve organized (or know about) an event we have not included, please submit it here for consideration. And for even more startup information, happenings and resources, visit the StartupSac Website.  Note: We include a lot of tech events that aren’t necessarily startup-focused on the event calendar on the StartupSac website. Check it out here.
